For this day I have been waiting months. It almost felt like it was one of my friends (and not one of my role models) has published a book. What kind of book you may ask? A book that has the potential to transform lives through changing eating habits, inspiring to live a healthier, more active life, and giving a perspective on living differently. A vegan cookbook.
About the author:
I found Niomi through the YouTube platform about three years ago, but it was only in the last two years that I took real interest and became a true follower. There is something different about Niomi. To me, Niomi became my role model not only because of her great and light-hearted personality, but also her values and strength she portrays. Positivity and a great attitude to life is what I truly admire in people. There is something comforting about her videos, something true that I can’t necessarily point my finger on. It’s the feeling of being home (as cheesy as it sounds). It’s the comfort of not being judged by your life choices (e.g. the way we eat) but instead being slowly guided towards a life that is fulfilling and true to yourself.
Well, what are the returns like? Difficult? Nice? Motivating? It depends on the type of the fitness break, what was it caused by and how long it lasted. Well, all in all it also has an impact on our training system practised before the break… But the most important thing is how we approach the whole thing!
How did it look like for me?
Once upon a time I was a self-proclaimed ‘gym-goer’, in the full sense of the word. I could not imagine my weekly routines without training. I will mark it clearly – no, I’m not crazy about changing my figure, the number of calories and excess fat on my body. I just – I loved practicing! I loved ‘the feeling after’ training, when endorphins stoke blood like crazy! That’s why I could practice every other day, even several times a day if I had the strength! Overtime, I nicely improved my fitness level.
First of all, let’s agree no one is born Usain Bolt! Anyone who begins the adventure of running, needs to suffer at the beginning. I am writing ‘everyone’ because yes, anyone can run, even if you don’t believe it right now.
A year ago I was only running when a train was almost leaving the platform from in front of my nose. I was never crazy about this form of activity and I always associated it with shortness of breath and a blur before my eyes. I never imagined that I would ever be able to defeat even a half-hour run. However I succeeded, even better than I thought…
I returned to run for good last month when I caught the bug to exercise. This happened after about three months of very irregular, casual training. With the intention of checking my running capabilities, I hesitated for a few weeks, but was always afraid that I just won’t be able to make it. Eventually my curiosity and determination prevailed and I so proudly ventured on my first run.
My love for biking started because of my ambition to stay active throughout my time at university. As soon as I got my paycheck at the end of the month, I researched all the possibilities and bought my first ride – a Traditional Viking Belgravia ♥. It was love at first sight.
Due to my love for the design of the actual bike AND my new lifestyle, I’d like to share ten reasons you should drop your car/bus and hop on your bike TODAY!
… and yet again, enjoy the ride!
