If you’re wondering what the REAL life of a university student looks like, you’ve come to the right place.

Now, let’s make it clear, it is different for everyone. The party animals, ‘rich’ peeps, food thieves, the night owls and so on… I am a mixture of all those things (excluding financially stable haha), how has uni been treating me so far?

First of all, how am I at the end of my second year ALREADY? I only moved into my halls a week ago! 😦 Where has the time gone? You see, at uni, it just so happens that we unintentionally start living from one deadline to another. That’s why we’re all here, right?

Life at university isn’t just learning and attending lectures. It’s the constant battle of creating a routine! If you’re not in the library, you’re in lectures, working at your part-time job (if you’re ambitious enough, of course), watching Netflix, dying while carrying your groceries up the stairs or dying with hangover. Sounds easy? Ha-ha, not to me!

The beauty of life

For the most part of my life I didn’t know the real beauty of it. Up until the age of ten, living in Poland without an internet connection – I can honestly say these were the best days of my life. Not to say moving to the UK is my biggest regret, because the universe had this in plan for me, and I wholeheartedly accepted it. It gave me strength and beautiful memories, as well as some great life experience.

What I wanted to share with you today is the REAL beauty of life – life beyond internet connection, smartphones and money.

No matter if you are going through tough times, trust me, it gets better with time ♥ I never knew how strong I was until being strong was my only option, and guess what? I love myself for that. The human mind is beautiful. What lead to my constant complaining about how my life wasn’t great, how I’ve got so much going on or how much someone has hurt me – I was only fooling myself. You have power over your emotions and thoughts, no matter what others say or do to you, it’s all in your hands.

And because we are all developing our souls constantly, we can only try to be perfect. But the thing is, perfection doesn’t mean happiness. Does it? Does having amazing and expensive possessions make you feel grateful for simply BEING ALIVE?

I don’t have all these things. I don’t have a great car, the most expensive phone or designer clothes, but what I do have, is an attitude to life most people lack. I wish everyone the state of mind I currently hold (and I hope it is not going anywhere anytime soon!). I learned to appreciate the crisp air, the sun peaking from in between the trees, my beautiful dreams and even the little chit chats with customers at work. When someone crushes you to the point you start to think life does no longer make sense without them, pick yourself up. Look at all the things around you. Look where you are now. You’re an independent woman, who decided to move from her hometown to become successful. After all the years of bullying and people doubting you, you managed to work hard, with all the obstacles around you, just to prove you’re worthy. And here you are. You’ve became an amazing and confident human being, who never quits. When was the last time you called in sick to work? When have you told yourself to quit and just live a mediocre life? You never have.

Don’t all these things you’ve been through, show you, that you can conquer anything if you only wish?

That’s the real beauty of life.

When motivation says GOODBYE …

Healthy lifestyle… Healthy eating, endorphins floating in the blood, beautiful body, smiling face and wonderful mood. Everyone constantly talks about that, right?

You think to yourself – “whatever, I’ll try to be that!” Your imagination is sprouting the idea of “better me”, the beautiful athletic body and perfect lifestyle. Motivation increases, the resolutions roam in mind, nothing but to take action. And then you do it – healthy diet, workouts, study hours and activities are planned. You give 100% of yourself every day to just reach your goal. After a few months, your energy is falling, and with that, your motivation… You’re sick of all this. And you give up on it for good.

Burnout? Overtraining? Fatigue? You think to yourself that you suck, because yet again, you give up? And it is always that you constantly fail?

Nothing could be further from the truth – the loss of motivation is normal and willingly or not – gets to all of us. Each of us has the right to have total lazy moments, sometimes. Each of us has the right to have enough of healthy food and work, which reigned total madness. Each of us has a right to be tired. Each of us deserves a total reset once in a while.

Motivation is a tricky beast. One day it’s on the millionth level, and it seems to us that it will never expire. On the second day it does not exist at all, and we are stuck on the ice, fighting with our own thoughts and mentality.

How to deal with stress?

We live in such generation in which stress is present in almost every aspect of our lives. At work as well as outside of it. Either from necessary reasons, or sometimes just by trivialities – It exists. It can be annoying. Recently, I started to get a lot of experience about this matter…

Since I can remember I was always the person who panicked before each test, an exam (not to mention the A level exams – horror of horrors!). Over time, I got a little used to it, but not enough to completely eliminate it. It’s weird, because some situations, colloquially all stressful don’t affect me as much. Even a job interview – with them, for example, I have no major problems. If, however, take into account the actual duties of the same job – here is the point of a start of steep stairs.

More recently (since only 2 months) I started working at a retail store in Guildford. Well, yes, I am a novice sales assistant who only gets to know this area from the backstage. Few people realize at first, the responsibility in the profession until they begin to practice it. Cooperation with customers (who are totally different), is terribly stressful. It requires great concentration, precision and accuracy. And above all, it requires self-control and ability to work under pressure and stress.

In Bruges…

I’ve never heard of Bruges. To be perfectly honest, I had no idea what did it look like or what was it famous for. With no research whatsoever, we decided to choose it over Brussels, as we liked the idea of the unknown.

The train journey from Paris to Bruges was long and stressful, or so we thought it was. With a few train changes and a lot of waiting getting a chance to discover a part of Lille on our way was a little bonus to pick us up.

Start thinking about yourself!

There is nothing more comforting than an evening of reflections with quiet music and fairy lights hung in the room, creating a mysterious and magical atmosphere. On such evenings I like to slow down for a moment and reflect on the things that are important to me in life, make plans or make resolutions. Every day, probably like most people, I’m too busy to spend time on such “trivial” things as figuring out whether what I do in life is right, am I lost somewhere, or if something could be done better. Sometimes, however, we must talk to ourselves to find out what we really want and need. The period of upcoming Christmas and soon New Year’s Eve, when the gloomy-days are replaced by thinking, we turn on to the resolution-making mode.

For a long time I wondered under what slogan should I start living by and I think I finally found it. I admit, this phrase is quite trite, but if you translate it into certain situations of our lives, it seems very real.

Why do we let go, when we really care?

A wise person once told me that I should never let myself believe that there are things which are impossible…
To never take it to heart when someone tells me, you are not going to make it, because you’re too weak… I mean, how can anyone decide and comment on how much of yourself you can give, and how much you can’t?

But only recently I realized that it is one thing to listen, when someone is trying to set you down on your ass, when your head starts to swing in the clouds, and quite another thing is when you alone, decide that that your ass will never move too far from a safe place.
